NASVILLE, Tenn.-The State of Tennessee has chosen Cingular Wireless to provide high-speed wireless data services to all state agencies.
The deal calls for Cingular to deploy Sony Ericsson GC-83 PC modem cards enabled for the carrier’s EDGE network for several thousand laptop computers used by state workers. The contract also allows local governments to purchase the same equipment.
Cingular said it has scored three contracts with the state in the last year. The company recently finished network enhancements in downtown Nashville, including in-building voice and data coverage in the State Capitol, the War Memorial Building and Legislative Plaza.
