LONDON-Cable & Wireless plc awarded a contract to Tellabs to deploy its AssuredEthernet solution as part of the carrier’s Next Generation Network rollout.
“This product enables seamless migration to new Internet Protocol services, consolidating five separate technologies onto one platform,” said Frank Mount, director of operations for C&W.
The AssuredEthernet product allows for differentiated service level agreements and seamless migration of Ethernet, Frame Relay, Time Division Multiplex, Asynchronous Transfer Mode and IP onto a single converged platform, said Tellabs.
C&W also awarded a frame contract to Marconi Corp. for a multiservice provisioning platform that will run for an initial period of five years. Marconi said it will supply a variety of transport services for Cable & Wireless, including access and customer-located solutions.
