NEW YORK-Media giant Primedia Inc. will provide games, ringtones, live video and editorial content for planned mobile virtual network operator Amp’d Mobile, the companies announced Tuesday.
Amp’d, which is expected to launch using Verizon Wireless’ infrastructure this fall, will target youth and young professionals with extreme sports-themed content from Primedia for subscribers on its third-generation network. The first two games under the partnership will use BREW 3.1, which allows developers to integrate video clips within games.
“These brands are a perfect fit for our active customer target,” said Peter Adderton, chief executive officer and founder of Amp’d Mobile. “Being able to deliver exclusive video clips, live feeds and forecasts for surfers, snowboarders, skateboarders and car enthusiasts will show how far 3G and wireless content has come.”
