OCALA, Fla.-RMS Communications Group Inc. is offering to buy Star Wars cell phones sold by Cingular Wireless for cash.
Through its www.CellForCash.com subsidiary, RMS is offering $250 for the Sony Ericsson S710a model and $200 for the Z500a model. The phones were released in April to coincide with the release of the final Star Wars installment, “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.”
Cingular launched its Star Wars promotion in April, offering a variety of Star Wars-themed content and products. The limited-edition phones were sold pre-loaded with Star Wars ringtones, graphics, game demos and video clips. Customers also received a rebate for a Star Wars face plate and two tickets to see the movie.
The S710 retails for $450, but is being offered in select markets for $400 with a two-year contract. Cingular said the Z500a is available for as little as $50 with a two-year contract and a $30 mail-in rebate.
