CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Nextel Communications Inc. said it has enhanced more than 4,200 miles of network coverage in parts of North Carolina. The network expansion includes Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, Boone, Asheville, Greenville, Southern Pines, New Bern, Washington, Rockingham, Sanford and Eden.
Nextel said it has offered service in North Carolina for more than seven years and used select markets in the state to trial Flarion Technologies Inc.’s Flash-OFDM based Wireless Broadband service, which is scheduled to end this month.
