HONG KONG-Hong Kong mobile operator Sunday Telecoms began offering commercial W-CDMA services Thursday using infrastructure from Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. The 3G network covers all of Hong Kong and incorporates Huawei’s end-to-end network solution including 1,000 base stations.
The network will offer almost 20 services, including an assisted-global positioning system location service, video phones, media streaming, video conferencing and music downloads. A 3G data card, which can reach up to 384 kilobits per second of concurrent transmission, also was provided by Huawei.
Huawei said it has built 11 W-CDMA commercial networks worldwide.
