STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson said it plans to expand its W-CDMA portfolio into new and existing frequency bands to prepare for mass market uptake of mobile triple-play services as well as increased interest in W-CDMA technology in new markets.
The new frequencies Ericsson will address with its products include 850 MHz, 1800 MHz (1700 MHz for Japan) and 1.7/2.1 GHz for the United States.
The company said it expects products for the 850 MHz band to be available this year with the rest of the products becoming available by mid-2006. Ericsson said its W-CDMA solutions will also support the 900 MHz and 2.5 GHz frequency bands.
