BONN, Germany-T-Mobile International AG’s subsidiaries in Europe are working with Google to boost wireless Internet use, the companies said Wednesday.
The mobile arm of Deutsche Telekom said it is encouraging users to surf outside the walled garden, using the Internet giant’s portal as a home page for its Web-browsing service. The companies will team to develop and market Web-friendly handsets and increase network data transmission speeds.
T-Mobile USA isn’t part of the partnership, which includes only European operators, according to a spokesman for the U.S. operator.
“The objective is to improve user-friendliness, increase the advantages and boost the speed of Internet access when using the Net via T-Mobile cell phones,” the carrier said in a statement.
