SEATTLE-France Telecom plans to offer its customers an integrated interface for voice, data and video communications over multiple networks and applications through its recently announced partnership with Microsoft Corp.
The companies said the partnership, announced late last month, will allow France Telecom to offer LivePhone, a Wi-Fi broadband smart phone, and Homezone, a mobile communications service that uses a dual-radio GSM/Wi-Fi Voice over Internet Protocol device.
“This partnership demonstrates the commitment of both our companies to innovating and delivering the best services to customers. This is about accelerating convergence to provide consumers and enterprises with much richer and simpler experiences. Innovating together, we will deliver new digital devices and better integrated, end-to-end services that combine Microsoft’s expertise in software with France Telecom’s expertise in broadband and mobile networks,” said Steve Ballmer, chief executive of Microsoft.
France Telecom serves more than 126 million customers throughout five continents.
