Verizon releases new LG EV-DO phone

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless and LG Electronics MobileComm will release the LG VX8100 phone on Friday. The companies said the handset was designed exclusively for Verizon’s high-speed EV-DO network and is optimized for VCast, the carrier’s wireless broadband multimedia service.

The VX8100 features Bluetooth connectivity, removable MiniSD memory for viewing digital photos and video clips, dual external stereo speakers and a 1.3-megapixel digital camcorder.

The LG VX 8100 will sell for $150 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.

Verizon’s EV-DO network is available in more than 50 major metropolitan areas covering 119 million potential customers.
