LOS ANGELES-Moviegoers with Bluetooth-enabled handsets can download movie trailers, ringtones and wallpapers at three Loews Theatres this summer.
Twentieth Century Fox is providing kiosks at theaters in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco that will automatically send messages to devices with activated Bluetooth technology. Users then can choose to download content from Fox and Loews without paying carrier charges.
“Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Fantastic Four” and “Kingdom of Heaven” are among the films featured in the promotional pilot. WideRay Corp., which provides on-location content distribution platforms, is powering the offering.
“The fact that customers get this content while they are in the theater environment makes it all the more relevant,” said John McCauley, Loews’ senior vice president of marketing.
