Smartphones to license collegiate content

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-Smartphones Technologies Inc. and Collegiate Images announced mobile content licensing agreements with more than 30 U.S. colleges and universities that allow Smartphones to offer exclusively licensed college sports content.

According to the agreements, Smartphones will create officially licensed wallpapers, animated screensavers, mobile video clips, voice ringtones, ringback tones, text messaging campaigns and mobile games. The company will offer content provided by the schools, as well as original content generated by its own photographers and video crews at sporting events throughout the year.

“We think this is a fantastic opportunity,” said Mike Merrill, founder and chief executive officer of Smartphones Technologies. “College sports is a huge market with an incredibly loyal fan base.”
