33 GSM carriers offer PTT service, says survey

LONDON-More than 30 GSM/GPRS networks now offer commercial push-to-talk service, according to new research from the Global mobile Suppliers Association. Fifteen of the networks are in Europe, 11 are Asian, five are in the Americas and two are Middle Eastern.

Several more operators are in the deployment and testing phases of PTT rollouts, the group said.

The survey also shows that most new phones launched by the leading manufacturers in 2005 incorporate PTT features. The survey identified 57 phones announced in the market from 10 suppliers for use on GSM/GPRS networks, and many of these devices support the Push to talk Over Cellular (PoC) standard.
