STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Internet Protocol messaging solutions company Mobeon released a third-generation video-messaging interface that includes three-dimensional animated avatars.
The avatars, called mobile buddies, replace traditional voice and text-based instructions with an entertaining and personalized mailbox navigation for wireless subscribers, said the company.
The first mobile buddy, Fidgit, has a quirky personality that changes throughout the day. Mobeon said its research shows avatars attract young subscribers and can even be a factor in convincing them to switch carriers.
“With the boom in personalization add-ons for mobile customers such as ringtones and wallpaper, it’s clear that users view their mobile as an extension to their personal style,” said Antony Beswick, head of corporate strategy and product marketing at Mobeon. “Being able to select a personalized avatar for video mail further stamps a user’s personality onto their communication tools.”
