FALLS CHURCH, Va.-General Dynamics Corp., a defense contractor, has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Itronix Corp., which provides wireless rugged mobile computing solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Itronix’s products include handheld devices, laptop computers and tablet PCs for field applications. The company also provides wireless integration and support services. Target markets include military, public safety, commercial field services, insurance, communications and utilities, transportation and telecommunications.
The boards of directors of both companies have approved the acquisition. The deal is expected to close during the third quarter.
Itronix will become part of General Dynamics’ C4 Systems business unit, which is an integrator of secure communication and information systems and technology.
“The acquisition of Itronix will allow General Dynamics C4 Systems to bring even higher value to our core Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security customers and expand further into select commercial and international markets, which increasingly are calling for rugged computing solutions to meet their mission requirements,” said Mark Fried, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems.
Itronix currently is owned by Golden Gate Capital.
