M/A-COM, Motorola tout public-safety products at show

M/A-COM’s NetworkFirst Land Mobile Radio interoperability solution received official designation as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology from the Department of Homeland Security’s Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act. NetworkFirst LMR is the first and only LMR to receive such a designation.

The SAFETY Act, set up in 2002, provides liability limitations for “claims arising out of, relating to, or resulting from an act of terrorism” where qualified anti-terrorism technologies have been deployed. “As we deploy mission-critical radio communications systems around the country that will be used by first responders to defend our nation’s citizens in the event of a terrorist attack, the legal protections afforded under the SAFETY Act are a tremendous potential benefit to our customers and supplier,” said JoAnne Dalton, director of industry marketing for wireless systems at M/A-COM.

Motorola also showcased several products.

The MCC 7500 Dispatch Console is Motorola’s ASTRO 25 Mission Critical IP Dispatch solution, which Motorola said ensures superior audio quality and prioritizes emergency calls regardless of call volume or traffic loading and provides true end-to-end encryption for secure calls.

Motorola said the MCC 7500 connects directly to the IP network without a gateway, and console positions seamlessly integrate with ASTRO 25 systems. Trunking and conventional channels interface to the MCC 7500 through the same IP network.

The ASTRO 25 with High Performance Data is an IP-based wireless data system that delivers 96 kilobits per second of data in the private radio-frequency band, operating at 700 MHz and 800 MHz using standard 25-kilohertz channel allocations.

Motorola’s Intelligent Video Surveillance and Control Solution provides real-time video monitoring and intelligent video surveillance through an end-to-end wired and wireless solution.

Motorola’s ASTRO 25 Personnel Location Tracking Solution uses global positioning system technology, giving dispatch operators the ability to monitor and locate outdoor personnel.
