WALTHAM, Mass.-Open access to Wi-Fi hot spots is now be available in 128 of Singapore’s McDonald’s restaurants thanks to a deal between Airpath Wireless Inc. and SkyNetGlobal, a wireless broadband provider in Australia and Asia.
SkyNetGlobal is using Airpath Wireless’ InterRoam application to enable roaming access to Wi-Fi hot spots. InterRoam is a hosted, transaction-based clearing, settlement and rating platform used to solve complex billing, settlement and clearing transactions that take place between Wi-Fi providers and the host locations, such as restaurants, hotels and airports.
Airpath Wireless said there are more than 6,000 hot spots plugged into its InterRoam application worldwide.
“Across the globe, InterRoam is enabling carriers, providers and location owners to create a footprint of wireless broadband that provides a growing profit base and, at the same time, provides the end user with an easy-to-use system,” said Todd Myers, chief executive of Airpath Wireless.
SkyNetGlobal also provides home lifestyle and security products through retail outlets and provides wireless broadband services to subscribers worldwide through public hot spots.
McDonald’s has 131 restaurants in Singapore and serves 55 million customers.
