Ganswindt to head Siemens division following Pauly departure

MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG said Thomas Ganswindt will head up its Communications division following the abrupt departure of Lothar Pauly to Deutsche Telekom AG.

“With Thomas Ganswindt at the helm, the new management team will work forcefully and vigorously to ensure the further future-oriented development of business at the Communications Group,” said Klaus Kleinfeld, Siemens’ president and chief executive officer.

Ganswindt is a member of Siemens’ Corporate Executive Committee with special responsibility for its Information and Communications business area. Under the management changeup, he also will oversee Siemens Communications business, which houses the company’s wireless and wireline network operations. Ganswindt joins Karl-Heinz Seibert, Thorsten Heins, Andy Mattes and Andreas Bernhardt in heading Siemens’ Communications division.

Pauly has long presided over Siemens’ struggling Communications business. He recently oversaw the offloading of Siemens’ mobile-phone business to Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ. Pauly is joining the board at Deutsche Telekom, where he will head T-Systems.
