SAN JOSE, Calif.-KDDI Corp. in Japan used over-the-air updating technology to fix a software glitch in several thousand subscriber phones. KDDI uses OTA technology from InnoPath Software Inc.
“By delivering fast, efficient and reliable software updates without asking our customers to come to a service center, helps increase customer satisfaction,” said Kimihiko Nakamura, general manager of KDDI’s phone operations. “The success rate at which the handsets were fixed, as well as the speed of the update time, clearly met with our requirements. We look forward to providing subscribers with an improved user experience.”
NTT DoCoMo Inc. in March 2004 was perhaps the first carrier in the world to fix a phone software glitch using OTA technology. The carrier also uses InnoPath’s software.
