Mobile data user study results released

BELLEVUE, Wash.-Mobile application platform provider Action Engine Corp. released results of its first worldwide study on usability of mobile data services and application delivery, which included participants in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

The study’s key findings included:

  • Usability is the top influencer in purchasing decisions;

     

  • Cost and complexity are barriers to using data services among a sizeable portion of the respondent group;

     

  • E-mail ranked behind news, weather, travel, driving directions and mapping applications;

     

  • Users want more personalization options;

     

  • Fewer trips to the network and fast response time were listed as the most important features for users of mobile applications; and

     

  • Off-portal downloads are the most popular delivery mechanism.
