NEW YORK-Verizon Wireless Vcast customers can compete head-to-head with a new racing title from wireless game-maker Gameloft.
The carrier launched Asphalt Urban GT: Multiplayer, which Gameloft said is the first “real-time” multiplayer game Verizon Wireless has offered. The three-dimensional title uses Verizon’s EV-DO network to minimize network latency speeds, and Gameloft developers built in predictive technology to allow for more immediacy.
“There is still some latency, but what we do is approximate where a player is going to be,” said Eric Bryant, a Gameloft lead programmer.
Verizon is offering the title for $3 a month or $8.50 for unlimited use.
