PALO ALTO, Calif.-The installed base of corporate wireless e-mail mailboxes is expected to increase from 6.5 million this year to more than 123 million in 2009, according to a study by The Radicati Group called “Corporate Wireless E-mail Market, 2005-2009.”
In addition, The Radicati Group predicts revenues from corporate wireless e-mail will exceed $2.1 billion by 2009. The study said new offerings from wireless carriers and the emergence of innovative wireless devices will drive growth in the market.
The company also noted Microsoft Corp.’s DirectPush wireless e-mail technology, which is a free upgrade to Exchange 2003 that should be available later this year, should bring wireless e-mail capabilities to a broad range of new users.
