LONDON-Vodafone Group plc said it teamed with an infrastructure vendor to launch a new product that provides high-speed mobile data connectivity for teams working on the move. Vodafone will offer the 3G/UMTS Router with Cisco Systems Inc. and its Linksys division.
The router enables teams of up to five people to use the wireless local area network capability built in to most laptop computers to access high-speed mobile data services provided by the Vodafone third-generation network. Vodafone is targeting enterprises that regularly have teams working away from their main offices.
The product combines the Linksys WRT54G3G Wireless-G Router and the Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card. The 3G/UMTS Router initially is being launched in Spain followed by other Vodafone markets.
