NEW YORK-More than 75 percent of U.S. mobile phone and personal digital assistant users say 48 hours of active battery life would be the most important feature of the perfect converged device, according to a report by U.K. research firm TNS.
TNS drew the results from a 15-country study that found only Swedish and Dutch users valued battery life as much as U.S. consumers did. The survey also indicated 50 percent of U.S. users said the next-most important features were a high-resolution camera and video recorder. The availability of Microsoft Office applications and 20 gigabytes of memory were also cited as important features.
“The study shows that there is an appetite among consumers for powerful new applications, particularly those around entertainment media and imaging,” said Hanis Harun, global account director for TNS Technology. “However, the research also indicates that consumers now fully realize that such applications require enhanced battery life and increased memory, and they are demanding these improvements as a priority.”
