Juice Wireless offers mobile birthday cards

NEW YORK-Juice Wireless Inc. this week launched a service that delivers personalized digital “birthday cards” to wireless users.

MobileBday.com allows users to create birthday reminder lists of friends and family members, then sends a mobile greeting to listed people on their birthdays. User can select one of six backgrounds for the digital cards and add personalized two-line messages.

The service, which is free aside from carrier messaging charges, also can send text alerts to users reminding them of loved ones’ birthdays.

“This is a big step towards our vision of making digital content appropriate to the medium, not media-specific,” said Nick Desai, chairman and chief communications officer of Juice Wireless. The 1-year-old company also performs wireless marketing services for America Online Inc., Hearst Corp., Conde Nast and Teen Vogue.
