Wireless Interactive brings Wi-Fi to Iraq

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif.-Wireless Interactive Comm. Inc. said it has installed its RedFire 802.11g Wi-Fi equipment in Iraq.

The RedFire product line is designed for outdoor hot-spot and point-to-multipoint applications, offering connections up to 30 kilometers at data rates of up to 54 Mbps.

“Iraq’s infrastructure is in desperate need of wireless communications. Wi-Fi has exponential growth opportunities here, but we required more than just the last-mile,” said Mohammed Omed Ali, chief executive officer of Consultant Center based in Baghdad. “RedFire is allowing us to reach villagers at unprecedented distances. Village centers and citizens now have Internet connectivity for the first time ever.”
