CSI tracking technology used to monitor Peloton

CALGARY, Alberta-CSI Wireless Inc.’s says its Asset-Link wireless tracking technology is keeping supporters informed of the whereabouts of cyclists in the Calgary-to-Austin Peloton Project, a 2,400 mile bicycle marathon helping raise for cancer research.

Twenty-three cyclists left Calgary, Alberta, on Oct. 12 and are riding around the clock in five relay teams on their way to Austin, Texas. CSI said a support vehicle accompanying the cyclists is equipped with an Asset-Link fleet-tracking unit, which has a GPS receiver that calculates the cyclists’ current location, and a wireless radio that transmits the location data back to CSI’s Calgary headquarters where the data is posted in map format on CTAPP’s Web site, www.ctapp.org/ridertracker.php. CSI said they are updating the maps every 10 minutes, 24 hours per day.

“The tracking technology and mapping system from CSI Wireless is helping everyone who supports cancer research feel like they are part of this seven-day event,” said Mike Crape, co-chairman of CTAPP. “The Canadian riders’ family members and friends are using the system to see how far they have ridden, and Lance Armstrong and his foundation are using the system to see when the riders will reach Austin.”

The CTAPP race sponsored by CSI and raises money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which raises money for cancer research. Lance Armstrong is expected to ride the last several miles of the marathon with the cyclists as they approach Austin.

“The CTAPP cyclists and their supporters are making significant personal sacrifices to complete this ride and finance the cost of more cancer research,” said Stephen Verhoeff, president and chief executive of CSI Wireless. “Our company is very glad to play a small role in this very inspiring event.”

CSI said its Asset-Link products are usually used to remotely monitor and manage the assets of trucking, care rental and other fleet vehicle companies.
