FRAMINGHAM, Mass.-The mobile middleware market has become a half billion-dollar industry and will increase to $1.4 billion by 2009, according to a study from research firm IDC.
The mobile middleware market has seen a flurry of acquisitions, customer wins and new product launches in the past two years as wireless e-mail and other enterprise-focused applications help drive the market, IDC said. One unnamed vendor has generated $100 million in revenue, according to the research firm.
“Organizations today are no longer in the early education stage but are rolling out real mobile deployments and are recognizing the strategic advantages of deploying such solutions,” said Stephen Drake, program director for mobile software at IDC.
