Aruba scores $25 million, releases Mobile Edge

SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Aruba Networks secured $25 million in its series D funding, bringing the total equity investment in the company to $84 million.

The company said it plans to use the funds to support expanding operations and increased sales and marketing efforts.

In addition, Aruba launched its Mobile Edge architecture, which the company said provides secure connections for mobile workers to enterprise Voice over Internet Protocol and data networks.

The company said that in a Mobile Edge network, wireless access becomes the dominant means of connecting to enterprise computing and communications. This, the company said, results in fewer wired network ports as well as simplified organizational management.

Aruba also introduced new access points and an upgrade to its Aruba OS Mobility Software to support the launch of Mobile Edge. The new access points extend enterprise WLAN networks to remote locations, creating secure corporate hotspots that follow the user. The Aruba OS simplifies the deployment of remote and branch office networks with unified security solutions for wired and wireless LANs.
