Psion Teklogix

Psion Teklogix appointed Ron Caines vice president of marketing to lead and manage the company’s global product strategy and develop its corporate marketing initiatives. Caines previously was vice president of imaging at Psion Teklogix, following the company’s acquisition of Symagery Microsystems Inc., and prior to that was president and chief executive officer of Symagery.

Shenandoah Telecom

Dave Lasier joined Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. as vice president, where he will lead the company’s wireless broadband group. He will direct market development and sales efforts. Lasier joins Shentel from Broadband Metro Communications, where he was president and chief executive officer. Before that, he founded and was CEO of ClearSky Networks, which is now Airimba Wireless Inc.

I-Play

Mobile games company I-Play named Krishna Gidwani vice president of corporate development for the company’s global business. Gidwani will be responsible for leading the company’s capital-raising and mergers-and-acquisitions efforts. Prior to joining the company, Gidwani was a principal at Celerity Partners, a private-equity firm focused on investments in media and technology. Before that he worked for venture-capital firm Onset Ventures.

CTIA

CTIA said it promoted Chris Guttman-McCabe to vice president of regulatory affairs at the association, where he will serve as the industry’s chief liaison to the Federal Communications Commission. Guttman-McCabe previously was the assistant vice president for regulatory policy and homeland security. He joined CTIA in 2001.

Mobile Streams

Mobile Streams, a global mobile music and media company, appointed Omar Flores director for Mexico and Central America, with responsibility for operations and market development in those regions. He joins the firm from Mexican operator Unefon.

Palm

Palm Inc. named Philippe Nahman director for handheld and mobile manager activities in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He has been regional director since 2004. His new responsibilities include coordination and development of handheld and mobile manager activities across EMEA. He joined Palm in 1997 as business development manager for France.

Glu Mobile

Glu Mobile appointed Joe Poletto senior vice president of worldwide publishing. Poletto joins Glu from Microsoft Corp.’s MSN Network, where he was general manager of U.S. advertising sales. In his new position, Poletto will manage global operations, sales, marketing and licensing. In related news, Jill Braff, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, has been named general manager of North America. Glu also announced Chris Meredith joined the company as vice president of publishing for EMEA. Merideth previously was at Sony Computer Entertainment.

EMS Technologies

EMS Technologies named Timothy C. Reis general counsel, succeeding William Jacobs who is retiring after 23 years as counsel to the company. Jacobs served 10 years as outside counsel for EMS and joined the company in 1993 as general counsel. Reis joined EMS in 2001 as assistant general counsel. In addition, the company’s EMS Wireless subsidiary appointed Jay Clark director of global sales. Clark joined EMS in 1998 as a regional account manager and later was promoted to national sales manager. Prior to joining EMS, Clark was an independent contractor representing communications and paging-system-infrastructure companies.

Carolinas Association

Henry Campen Jr. of Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein L.L.P. has been named general counsel for the Carolinas Wireless Association.

APCO

The Association of Pubic-Safety Communications Officials International announced Chris Fisher has been elected second vice president of the group. She joins Greg Ballentine (president), Wanda McCarley (president elect), Willis Carter (first vice president) and Manfred Blaha (international vice president) in forming APCO International’s 2005-2006 board of officers. Fischer is director of Valley Communications Center in Kent, Wash., which is a combined police/fire/EMS emergency communications center.

Warner Bros.

Billy Wright has been tapped to lead global mobile activities for Warner Bros. Online as vice president of Worldwide Wireless at the company. Wright will lead the company’s Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia-Pacific strategic mobile teams as they develop, produce, publish and market content including wallpapers, video and games based on the company’s brands. Previously, Wright was group director of content, sponsorship and brand experience at Orange plc.

BlueRun Ventures

BlueRun Ventures, a global venture-capital fund focused on early-stage companies in IT, mobile and consumer markets, opened a new office in Shanghai, China, and appointed Andrew Chen as investment director for the office. Chen most recently was business director at Silicon Storage Technologies and a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. in Shanghai. He began his career as a circuit designer at Bell Labs.
