NEW YORK-Mobile technology is becoming a source of significant information security concerns within the insurance industry, according to a survey of insurance industry executives conducted by Ernst & Young.
Web applications ranked highest in terms of security concerns among insurance executives, followed by mobile computing and removable media, said the survey.
The survey noted declines in the cost of wireless connectivity coupled with business demands are driving rapid widespread adoption of mobile technology at insurance companies.
“With mobile devices leaving the safety of the corporate control environment, the information assets and intellectual property they carry are increasingly becoming the responsibility of individuals to protect-a responsibility that many organizations have not yet fully addressed nor anticipated,” said Ernst & Young.
