MUMBAI, India-Wireless distributor Brightstar Corp. has launched operations in India with headquarters in Mumbai and offices in Delhi and elsewhere.
The Miami-based company launched Brightstar Telecom India Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary that will provide fixed and wireless products as well as supply chain management and inventory control services. The move marks the first Asian move for Brightstar, which has operations in Australia and nearly 20 countries in the Americas.
“Wireless service in India is expected to grow exponentially in the near future,” said Arun Batra, who heads the company’s Indian business. “But even with a population of over a billion people, it is still a highly under-penetrated market in terms of both wireless and wireless communications when compared to countries like Korea, Malaysia and China.”
