Turkcell to begin selling Nokia’s Visual Radio

ISTANBUL, TURKEY-GSM operator Turkcell will team up with Nokia Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. to introduce Visual Radio in Turkey. The service will allow Turkcell subscribers to tune in to local FM radio stations via their cellular phones, and get detailed information on songs, download related graphics and participate in radio quizzes.

Turkcell, which has 26.7 million wireless customers, says it plans to be the first mobile operator in Turkey to offer this content to users. The service is slated to be available sometime in 2006.

Visual Radio, which was developed by Nokia, was first launched in Europe. In the United States, Infinity Broadcasting announced last April that it would partner with HP to provide content for Visual Radio.
