Wireless data company SkyLynx buys veterinary firm

SARASOTA, Fla.-SkyLynx Communications Inc., which provides dedicated wireless data networks for mobile and fixed applications, said it acquired Vetco Hospitals Inc. for $3.25 million in stock.

Vetco provides veterinary products and services and operates animal hospitals and vaccination clinics in Petco retail outlets in the southwestern United States. The company also operates an e-commerce Web site.

Vetco indicated the transaction will allow it to expand its operations in several areas, including tracking pets.

Last week, SkyLynx announced plans to purchase Digital Computer Integration Corp. DCI’s four business segments include a contract electronic manufacturing segment, a rugged mobile computing segment, a tracking systems segment and a radio-frequency identification applications segment.
