Cingular CTO re-elected as 3G Americas’ chairperson

BELLEVUE, Wash.-Kristin Rinne, chief technology officer for Cingular Wireless L.L.C., will serve a second term as chairperson of 3G Americas after being re-elected by the GSM technology organization’s board of governors.

Rinne has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 25 years and served as Cingular’s vice president of technology and product realization prior to her current post as the company’s CTO. Most recently, she led the endeavor to launch Cingular’s UMTS/HSDPA network, which began offering service in 16 U.S. markets in December.

Alan Pritchard, vice president of GSM/UMTS global product marketing for Nortel Networks Ltd., was elected treasurer of 3G Americas. He has served on the organization’s board of governors since 2002.
