Motorola creates chief architect position

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. named Hamid Ahmadi its first chief architect. Ahmadi will be responsible for developing a unified architectural framework and leading strategic hardware and software architecture planning across all of Motorola’s business units.

Ahmadi will report to Padmasree Warrior, the company’s executive vice president and chief technology officer.

Ahmadi previously was vice president and chief technology officer at IBM Corp. for the company’s Global Communications Sector. Before that he held leadership positions at AT&T Labs.

The move is part of an ongoing reorganization at Motorola conducted by Ed Zander, the company’s chief executive officer. Zander has worked on reordering the company’s management team, supply chain and business units.
