BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless’ Vcast subscribers can access concert footage and audio recordings from last night’s concert by The Fugees in Los Angeles.
The carrier sponsored the free open-air show from the noted hip-hop band, and is releasing clips from that performance and previous shows for its Vcast users. The Fugees reunited several months ago after disbanding in 1997.
Verizon Wireless also plans to sell full-length tunes from the band’s “reunion performance.” The move is the latest in a series of efforts by wireless operators to connect with users by offering exclusive content created strictly for wireless handsets. Sprint Nextel Corp. late last year transmitted a live concert from Bon Jovi to its PowerVision customers.
“As artists, we realized that there was more music we needed to make together,” the band said in a prepared statement.
