BRISTOL, England-Apertio announced a new deal with Vodafone Group plc that places Apertio’s One Network Directory Server at the core of Vodafone’s network in the United Kingdom.
“By deploying a single data platform underpinning the entire core network, Vodafone is able to create a truly subscriber-centric network by liberating vital subscriber data currently locked away in multiple, complex, proprietary hardware applications,” said Paul Magelli, chief executive officer of Apertio. “In addition, One-NDS will create a more streamlined, resilient and future-proofed architecture, slashing the cost of the core network by up to 50 percent and providing a platform for the development and delivery of IMS/convergence services.”
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Apertio said its One-NDS is set to go live on Vodafone’s U.K. network this year.
Apertio also announced that T-Mobile Venture Fund joined its second round of funding, helping the company raise $30 million in new financing. T-Mobile recently purchased Apertio’s One-NDS.
Apertio said the funding would enable the company to fulfill global demand for its network infrastructure software-and provides a “clear path to a full initial public offering.”
The company explained that its software application suite, Apertio One, delivers a single, open, subscriber-centric architecture for current and next-generation networks. In addition, the company said its Apertio One architecture decreases complexity and cost by dramatically simplifying the network.
Apertio said existing investors include Add Partners, DVC Deutsche Venture Capital, Eden Ventures, Motorola Ventures and The Tokarz Group.
The company noted its customers also include Orange, True Corporation and AIS.
