Andrew Corp. launched a compact tower-mounted amplifier for third-generation networks. The company said its OneBase Compact TMA product, at 1.5 liters, is the smallest and lightest tower-mounted amplifier available in the industry. The product complies with Antenna Interface Standards Group requirements. In addition, it is antenna line independent and backward compatible with non-AISG UMTS sites, said the company.
Socket
Socket Communications Inc. announced its Go Wi-Fi P500, an 802.11g CF wireless local area network card for Windows Mobile 2003/SE and 5.0 Mobile devices. The product is compatible with .11b and .11g standards, performs network ping and trace route functions and allows users to monitor signal strength for availability of networks. The P500 also includes Socket’s Wi-Fi Companion Software and enterprise-class security. The product sells for $100.
Telcordia
Telcordia expanded its Maestro portfolio to include its new ringback tones and location-based services applications. The new applications run on Telcordia’s Converged Application Server. The ringback-tones application comes with an integrated content database. The LBS application supports child tracking, friend finder services, fleet tracking and directions to businesses.
Aperto
WiMAX solutions provider Aperto Networks announced availability of its Time Domain Multiplexed solution for broadband wireless networks. The offering is billed as an alternative to fiber and leased circuits and is designed for wireless backhaul for cellular networks and enterprise access for up to 15 miles.
AdvanceTec
AdvanceTec Industries Inc. released its AdvanceCommunicator desktop speakerphone/ base station, designed to appeal to people in the public sector, government, schools and universities, hospital and first responders. The product improves signal reception in remote facilities and allows conversations to be recorded, a useful feature for smaller public-safety users providing mission-critical services. It can be used as a stand-alone unit or be converted into a computer-assisted communications system with a Windows-based software program.
Padcom
Padcom Inc. announced a solution that provides seamless network roaming between multiple CDMA2000 1x networks. The TotalRoam solution provides a unique VPN Internet Protocol address for mobile devices, which allows users to roam between two networks without dropping their connection or having to re-authenticate, said the company.
RFS
Radio Frequency Systems said it plans to unveil WiMAX-ready adaptive antenna systems at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona this week. The new antenna is part of RFS’ suite of 802.16 solutions, which will include antennas, RF conditioning solutions and WiMAX-ready in-building solutions. The RFS W4A series antenna system is available for 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz networks and offers precision beam-pattern shaping, said the company. In other product news, the company announced an integrated equipment rack for base stations that offers radio plug-and-play for 900 MHz specialized mobile radio operators. The rack system bundles tailored RFS components, including a high-performance RF duplexer section and all wiring, in a 19-inch Schroff rack. The product includes a separate power supply for the receive amplifiers and a circuit breaker tray.

Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced a digital vector signal analysis measurement system that delivers modulation measurements on the digitized communication signals found in digital signal processor-based radio transceivers used in cellular phones, base stations, satellite and military communications systems, and radar applications. The product allows digitized transmit and receive signals found on data buses between the baseband and radio-frequency blocks of digital radio applications to be analyzed in the time, frequency and modulation domains within a logic analyzer, said the company. Pricing begins at $10,000.
