NEW YORK—Mobile software developer Flytxt Inc. shuffled its front office in an effort to focus on its wireless marketing platform.
The London-based company named board director David Harper as its new executive chairman, and installed co-founder Carsten Boers as president. Harper had been a non-executive director at Flytxt for six years; Boers will retain the title of chief executive officer, which he has held since 2004, but will move to New York.
Four other executives were assigned new roles in the re-organization effort.
Flytxt also said that it plans to use $2 million in new financing to back Flytxt Direct, its flagship mobile marketing offering. Existing investors INVC Venture Capital AG, Gordion Investments Ltd. and Herald Ventures participated in the recent round, which will be used to expand marketing and sales efforts for the technology.
Flytxt manages wireless loyalty campaigns in the United Kingdom and Romania dubbed “Orange Wednesdays” that allow users to access vouchers for movie tickets on their handsets. The company boasts clients including Cingular Wireless L.L.C., HarperCollins, Time Inc., Yahoo Inc. and British Airways.
“The question for us was how to maximize our strengths, which are superior technology products and experienced service support teams,” Harper said. “Therefore strategically, we’re now focused on delivering technology with a global reach combined with a second-to-none local service.”
