Alltel unloads rural Arkansas market as part of required divestitures

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. said it has sold one of its Arkansas rural service areas to Cingular Wireless L.L.C., as part of Alltel’s divestiture requirements related to its purchase of Western Wireless Corp. last year.

The Arkansas 11 RSA covers the counties of Hempstead, Lafayette, Nevada and Columbia in the state’s southwest corner, and includes about 65,000 potential customers.

Daniels & Associates L.P. represented Alltel in the transaction.

Alltel previously sold off some of its operations in Kansas and Nebraska to U.S. Cellular Corp. as part of required divestitures.
