NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Mobile publisher mDisney is getting into the multiplayer gaming space.
The content provider—formerly Disney Mobile Studios—said it will offer Pirates of the Caribbean Multiplayer, a “real-time” offering for wireless video game fans. Up to 16 gamers can play in a single scenario, and players can chat, form clubs and meet others through the game’s server.
The title is slated to launch this summer in conjunction with the release of the sequel to Disney’s popular film.
“Not only is (the game) one of the first games to bring an action adventure and real-time multiplayer experience to mobile handsets, it also allows players to interact across multiple carriers,” said Larry Shapiro, executive vice president of business development and operations for Walt Disney Internet Group.
