SAN FRANCISCO—Java operating system vendor SavaJe Technologies introduced its Jasper S20 handset at the 2006 JavaOne Conference in San Francisco this week.
The Jasper S20 is being manufactured by Group Sense Limited of Hong Kong and will ship to Asian markets this summer. Group Sense introduced the first phone running SavaJe’s OS last year.
SavaJe also counts LG Electronics Co. Ltd. as a licensee.
SavaJe’s new Jasper S20 phone features an early access version of JSR-209, a set of specifications that include Advanced Graphics and User Interface Optional Package, previously available only in the Java Standard and Enterprise editions. This will broaden the pool of application developers, speed time-to-market for advanced applications and offer greater handset security, according to SavaJe.
