SUNNYVALE, Calif.—Yahoo Inc. has extended its photo-sharing application to mobile phones, allowing users to access images from picture albums wirelessly.
The Internet giant also upgraded its mobile e-mail service with a new user interface and text-message alerts for new e-mails. Yahoo said it has added a “quick reply” feature, allowing users to read and respond to messages from a single screen, and has reduced the number of clicks required to access e-mails and other data.
The upgrades underscore Yahoo’s aggressive efforts to expand its personalized, Internet-based offerings to mobile phones. The company has extended many of its PC-based features to handsets, including driving directions, instant messaging, mapping services and search offerings.
