Airlink links with Brightstar

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—Prepaid wireless provider Airlink Mobile is partnering with Brightstar Corp. for logistics and distribution support.

Brightstar said it will provide Airlink with services including product procurement, inventory and warehouse management and handset and package customization.

Airlink operates on Sprint Nextel Corp.’s CDMA network and says it plans to roll out a new suite of prepaid products in nearly 5,000 stores in the next three months. Airlink’s points of distribution include convenience stores, gas stations and “other high traffic points of sale,” according to the company. The company’s Web site says its phones also are available at BJ’s Wholesale Clubs and Sam’s Club stores.

Airlink’s Web site promises its customers free nationwide roaming and night and weekend calling. Customers are charged monthly for service via credit card or check card. The company offers a 30-day contract term, followed by automatic renewals of 30 days.

Airlink Mobile was acquired in April by DS Mobile, which supplies prepaid wireless, prepaid long-distance cards and accessories for cellular phones, according to The Pre-Paid Press. The publication listed David Stanek as chief executive officer of DS Mobile; Stanek is listed as the president and CEO of Airlink Mobile on Airlink’s Web site.

According to the AirLink Mobile Web site, the service was created by Wireless Retail Inc. and is headquartered in Iowa. Representatives from Wireless Retail were unable to be reached for comment.
