Capcom acquires mobile game-maker Cosmic Infinity

LOS ANGELES—In a move to bolster its North American mobile gaming position, Capcom Entertainment’s Mobile and Interactive Media division agreed to acquire mobile game developer and publisher Cosmic Infinity Inc.

Financial terms of the agreement were not released.

Cosmic Infinity develops games for WAP, Java and BREW-enabled handsets. Among its assets are the North American mobile rights to the popular “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” brand. The company will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Capcom USA Inc. under the agreement, and its employees will continue to work out of the company’s Burlington, Ontario, Canada, facility.

The acquisition is just the latest in a long series of consolidations in the mobile gaming market.
