PLEASANTON, Calif.—FunMobility Inc. is hoping to capitalize on the growing wireless social networking trend.
The company introduced a social networking platform called Connect that allows carriers to offer features similar to what Internet-based social networking sites offer, including user profiles and personalized greetings. Other features allow users to buy, share and rate content, write blogs, send messages and alerts to family and friends, and meet other users based on similar interests. The platform is expected to be available later this year.
FunMobility said the platform includes security features to prevent predatory activities.
Mobile social networking has become a popular catch phrase and trend, with companies including Intercasting Corp. and AirG, and Internet crossovers like Myspace.com, participating.
