BEIJING-Motorola Inc. said it tapped PacificNet iMobile to power its online storefront for wireless users in China.
PacificNet will operate the site, dubbed MotoShop, and will provide distribution and logistics support, delivering goods door-to-door in the 40 Chinese cities in which it has distribution centers. The Hong Kong-based company will use parcel services in other locations, and PacificNet personnel will provide customer support services.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Our distribution centers are strictly controlled by process flow to ensure product quality and delivery time,” said Zhang Wei, general manager of PacificNet.
Shares of PacificNet closed up 58 cents to $7.89 following the news last Thursday; Motorola closed up 52 cents at $21.61. Pacific lost ground last Friday, though, dropping 33 cents, or 4 percent, to $7.56.
