Naztech accuses Wireless Xcessories of copying its products

VALENCIA, Calif.—Attorneys for Naztech Wireless Technologies have served a cease-and-desist notice to Wireless Xcessories Group Inc., alleging that products on the latter’s Web site copy “every aspect” of Naztech products. Naztech said the situation has caused customer confusion and irreparable damage to its business.

Both Naztech and Wireless Xcessories offer accessories for cell phones.

Wireless Xcessories balked at Naztech’s charges.

“If Naztech can show us any documents that establish copyright or patent infringement, we’ll provide a response within 24 hours,” said Steve Rade, chief executive officer of Wireless Xcessories. “We have no intent to infringe on anyone’s patents.”

Rade said the allegations appear to focus on a line of mobile-phone cases. He acknowledged that both his firm and Naztech offer similar lines, but said he wanted documentation that his line infringes on Naztech’s line.
