ESPOO, Finland—Nokia Corp. announced it sued two Chinese handset manufacturers over alleged infringements of the designs used in its handset model 7260.

Nokia’s civil action requests that the two Shenzhen-based, handset companies—Shenzhen Telsda Mobile Communication Industry Developing Co. Ltd. and Song Xun Da Zhong Ke Electronic Co. Ltd.—refrain from making or selling the copycat phones and pay damages.

Nokia also named as codefendants distributorships Beijing Tongwanbao Commerce & Trade Co. Ltd., An Wai Avenue No. 2 Branch and Beijing Xin Tongwanbao Commerce & Trade Co. Ltd.

China is the world’s largest wireless market, and one of the fastest-growing.

Nokia’s lawsuit follows a similar action by Motorola Inc., which recently filed against handset vendors selling alleged copycat phones.
